RUSSIAN RIVER, ALASKA

Russian River, Alaska - Sockeye (reds) Fishing

Early Run

Russian River sockeye fishing rates high on the list of things to experience on your Alaskan fishing adventure.  Considered to be "combat fishing" where you and your neighbor must get along.  Strictly fly fishing only.

Late Run

Plan your trip accordingly, so you are there when the fish are.  As you can see this varies from year to year based on many factors, water temperature, water depth, and other circumstances.

These counts are gathered at the mouth of Lower Russian Lake 78 miles from the mouth of the Kenai River.  7 to 10 days is the estimated travel time from the mouth of the Kenai.
